Biswa Bangla Gate is an architectural marvel situated in Kolkata, India. Due to its unconventional design it is very important that the structural health of the building is continuously monitored to detect any flaw or damage early one and prevent any serious catastrophic failure of the structure.
Strain gauges have been installed at various critical points of the structure. Rayaan fetches the data from these sensors in real time and displays them in the gauges (as load in Mega Pascal). When some part of the structure fails e.g.: failure of a joint or welding the gauge for that location will indicate an abnormal value based on which the concerned authorities can take required action.
The building has four legs on which the ring is suspended . The app has a page for each leg and each of the gauges display them data from each sensor. Whenever one of these sensors detects an excessive reading the corresponding gauge in the app will also display the same. Based on this information the user can understand that a failure has occurred in the structure.
A weather station has also been installed so that excess wind speeds can be monitored which can cause oscillations of the suspended ring. The data from this weather station can also be viewed from this app.
